GODOLPHIN JOINS WITH MITSUBISHI MOTORS AUS3DE TO SHOWCASE THE THOROUGHBRED
14 November 2017
The Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event (MMAus3DE) has joined forces with the largest racing stable in the world, Godolphin, to showcase the diversity of the thoroughbred as a performance horse.
The Godolphin Racehorse to Sporthorse Showcase will be a major exhibition as part of the 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event’s program on Saturday 18 November at the completion of the Cross Country phase of the competition.
Mrs Felicity Lewis, MMAus3DE Chair says the MMAus3DE is recognised as the Southern Hemisphere’s premier equestrian event and it is fitting that the thoroughbred is being recognised for its diversity, adaptability and athleticism across a range of disciplines in the Godolphin Racehorse to Sporthorse Showcase to be held in the Main Arena at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
“We are excited to be partnering with Godolphin to recognise that thoroughbred racehorses can have a long and successful career as a sporthorse after retiring from the racetrack,” says Mrs Lewis.
“Historically, thoroughbred horses have always been successful equestrian athletes in the sport of eventing and at this year’s MMAus3DE we have five Off The Track thoroughbreds competing in the Olympic standard 4-star event, and 30 thoroughbreds overall, representing 30% of all entries.”
Mr Ross Cole, Interim Managing Director of Godolphin said, “As an organisation, Godolphin’s priority is the welfare of the horse and for the thoroughbred to go on to successfully fulfil other roles once their racing careers have finished.”
“The Godolphin Lifetime Care program is committed to supporting initiatives that focus on the care of thoroughbreds beyond the racetrack and the Godolphin Racehorse to Sporthorse Showcase clearly illustrates what a great partner the thoroughbred can be in any discipline from pony club, to show jumping, dressage and more”, says Mr Cole.
Anyone that has ever owned a thoroughbred knows that it is their versatile nature, agility and endurance of these great equine athletes that sets them apart from any other equestrian breed, says Mr Cole.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Aus3DE will attract Australia’s best horse and rider combinations across three phases – Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping, with the event to be a qualifying competition for the Australian team for the 2018 World Equestrian Games to be held in North Carolina, USA.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Australian Three Day Event will be held in Adelaide’s inner-city East Parklands from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 November, 2017.
